Literacy LiftOff is off to a flying start with nearly 160 students gathering at Shearer Elementary for our summer literacy camp.

The six-week program welcomes rising 2nd and 3rd graders from around the district, providing intensive instruction in reading and writing, along with a special activity each Wednesday.

Last year’s camp resulted in huge gains with overwhelmingly positive feedback from teachers and parents.

We’re thrilled to welcome students from across the district as they come together with a shared goal—to grow greatness in literacy,” said Kelly Fithen, Chief Academic Officer and Assistant Superintendent. “From the moment they arrived, their excitement and eagerness to learn lit up the room. It was an inspiring start to what promises to be a powerful summer of growth through Literacy LiftOff.

Shoutout to our Literacy Liftoff team whose dedication powers our investment in foundational literacy education.
