Today was truly special for CCPS and our community as we welcomed Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman and Education Commissioner Dr. Robbie Fletcher to Day 1 of our Amazing Shake competition for 5th-8th graders.

Ms. Coleman and Dr. Fletcher knew exactly where to come to see the state’s Portrait of a Learner initiative at its best. Their support reinforced what we already know: Our students are gifted, driven, and ready to do great things.

Today’s opening round — The Gauntlet — pushed students to show their strongest professionalism, confidence, communication skills, and quick thinking.

Our students rose to the challenge as community, district, and student volunteers presented 130 competitors with unpredictable scenarios. Judges focused on their reactions, leadership, kindness, and composure.

Firm handshakes, strong eye contact, poised introductions, and rapid-fire problem-solving filled the RDC library. Round 2 continues Tuesday, with the field cut in half each day before winners are announced Friday.

Lt. Gov. Coleman and Commissioner Fletcher saw our students, district, and community shine today and we could not be prouder. We appreciate such high-level support from our state education and government leaders as we continue Growing Greatness in Clark County.

Shoutout to our community, district, and GRC volunteers for helping make this a fantastic day. We view our annual Amazing Shake event as so much more than a competition. It is a is a celebration of the incredible future ahead for our kids.

What an amazing day to be a Cardinal!

The Amazing Shake would not be possible without our community volunteers and district employees who serve as judges for The Gauntlet each year.
