Safety Day at Baker is an annual event.
Safety Day at Baker is an annual event.

Baker Intermediate School’s 6th grade students had an unforgettable experience during this year’s Progressive Agriculture Safety Day®, a hands-on event focused on equipping students with life-saving safety knowledge and critical thinking skills.

Thanks to the efforts of FRYSC Coordinator Casey Davis, the event ran smoothly and successfully delivered its mission: Keeping kids safe.

Held annually, the event is part of a nationwide initiative that began in 1995. At Baker, it has quickly become a beloved tradition, thanks to the dedication and planning of Ms. Davis.

Principal Josh Mounts praised her efforts, calling her a “superstar” for her ability to connect with community and business partners who help bring the day to life.

The Safety Day featured a 15-station setup, covering nearly every type of safety imaginable, ,from fire safety and EMT demonstrations to hunting safety, lawn equipment precautions, biking, food safety, water safety, cyber awareness, and even vaping prevention.

The age-appropriate sessions were designed to be interactive, ensuring students could actively engage, ask questions, and apply what they learned.

The goal was to teach students how to identify and respond to various risks—whether on the farm, at home, or online—and how to effectively communicate these practices with their families.

With real-world scenarios and experts from the field leading each session, the lessons were not only educational but also memorable.

Safety Day at Baker isn’t just an event—it’s an investment in the future safety and well-being of the students and their communities.
