Fresh Look, Fresh Start: Students to get free haircuts before school starts

As a new school year approaches, new classrooms, friendships, and opportunities are just around the corner.

To help students begin the year looking and feeling their best, the CCPS Family Resource and Youth Services Centers, in collaboration with outstanding community partners, are proud to host the Fresh Look, Fresh Start: Free Back-to-School Haircuts event.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, August 3, we are offering FREE haircuts to students enrolled in Clark County Public Schools.

The event will be held at the Hannah McClure Cardinal Community Center at 30 Beckner Avenue where more than a dozen barbers and hairstylists are volunteering their time on their day off.

Thanks to their generosity, students have the opportunity to receive a fresh haircut before heading back to the classroom.

"We are so grateful to our community for giving of their time and talent to make this happen," said Shearer FRYSC Coordinator Kristi Carter. "We want all students to walk into school on the first day feeling confident and ready to learn."

The event highlights both the mission of the FRYSC program –– Connecting families with resources and opportunities that support student success –– and the mission of CCPS: Connecting the district and community as ONE to Grow Greatness in all students.

While families are at the event, CCPS staff will be available to assist with required Online Registration (OLR) and answer questions about district resources, making it a convenient one-stop opportunity for families preparing for the new school year.

Fresh Look, Fresh Start demonstrates what can be accomplished when schools, businesses, volunteers, and community organizations work together toward a common goal.

"Events like this let students and families know," said Ms. Carter, "that they are supported by an entire community that wants them to succeed."
