National School Breakfast Week (March 3-7) is a perfect time to highlight the many perks of being a CCPS student in the mornings.
Through the Community Eligibility Program, breakfast is FREE to all students. Across the district, we average about 66% participation for breakfast, and 75% in the four elementaries.
While the traditional model for many schools is breakfast in the cafeteria only, CCPS is one of a few school districts that provides a variety of opportunities to enjoy breakfast, including breakfast in the classroom, grab-n-go, and second chance.
Breakfast options across our district include:
The Preschool and all four elementaries bring breakfast to the classroom after students arrive at school.
Baker allows students to come to the cafeteria or grab-n-go from carts in the hallways.
RDC serves breakfast from carts located throughout the building.
GRC allows students to eat in the cafeteria, or grab-n-go from carts in the hallways on their way to class. The high school also offers what is called second chance breakfast after the first period bell with breakfast carts located around the school and an extended time before the second period bell.
The importance of a nutritious breakfast in fueling students for a day of learning cannot be taken for granted. Shoutout to our wonderful Food Services Department and Café staffs for always taking care of our students.
