New camera system expands GRC security

A major campus security upgrade at George Rogers Clark High School will be in place as students return, with 278 high-resolution cameras providing clearer images and broader coverage.
The Vicon camera system is designed to eliminate blind spots, improve coverage in key areas, and make it easier for school administrators and first responders to locate and review footage when needed.
“The system represents a significant investment in the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors,” said CCPS Technology Director Justin Cason.
Funded primarily through grants and Safe Schools-related funding, the large-scale project was a collaborative effort between the district's technology and maintenance departments.
“Both teams worked together to install the equipment and configure the system with minimal disruption to other school operations,” Cason said.
The new cloud-based platform will enhance reliability while giving administrators and first responders clear visibility when reviewing incidents or responding to emergencies.
The improved image quality, expanded coverage, and updated technology provide an elevated layer of support for safety and security at GRC.
