CCPS Summer Flight Academy gave 201 students from across the district an opportunity to continue learning, growing, and building confidence.
The 20-day summer experience focused on strengthening reading and math skills while helping prevent summer learning loss.
Designed to support students in phonics, reading, and math, Flight Academy provided engaging lessons and hands-on experiences that helped students build on the skills they demonstrated in their end-of-year assessments.
Throughout the program, students continued making academic progress while discovering new ways to learn and challenge themselves.

District STEM teacher Robbie Sergent led interactive activities that encouraged students to explore, collaborate, and think creatively while putting their Portrait of a Learner skills into action.
Community partners, including the Clark County Public Library, the 4-H Extension Office, and local fire and police departments, shared their expertise with students and helped bring learning to life.
Students also visited the Mt. Sterling Airport, where they enjoyed an exciting helicopter demonstration from the Kentucky State Police.
The Flight Academy experience ended with a special celebration where students proudly “earned their wings” and were recognized for their hard work, perseverance, and growth.

Each student received a certificate of completion, celebrating not only the completion of the program but also the skills and confidence they developed along the way.
"It was a true team effort made possible by the dedication of students, families, staff, and community partners," said Tiffany Austin, instructional specialist and one of the program directors. "Together, they created a summer learning experience that helped students continue growing academically while developing the Portrait of a Learner competencies that prepare them for success in and beyond the classroom."
THESE STUDENTS EARNED THEIR WINGS THIS SUMMER!
