As Kentucky schools prepare to welcome students back this fall, the Kentucky Department of Education is launching a media campaign to address chronic absenteeism.

KDE Assistant Director of Communications Myles Young visited our district to gather footage for the commercial, which will begin airing in August on YouTube and numerous streaming services. Forty billboards also are being strategically placed around Kentucky to emphasize the importance of regular school attendance.

When it came time to film the commercial, Young knew exactly where he wanted to go: Clark County.

“I was working on a project that involved the Summer Food Service Program and I was in Clark County at one of the elementary schools,” he recalls. “The staff and students were so welcoming that when I needed to get footage for our commercial, I knew I'd like to go back to Clark County because it was so amazing.”

We’re honored to be a part and look forward to seeing the final product.

Young said he chose Clark County because everyone is always welcoming and helpful.
