Our Amazing Shake competition brings together students in grades 5 through 8 to showcase skills aligned with the Portrait of a Clark County Learner.
Beginning with “The Gauntlet” on Monday and continuing with a round each day of the week, the Clark County competition has grown into a program recognized across the state. This year, Lieutenant Governor Jacqueline Coleman and Education Commissioner Robbie Fletcher attended on Day 1, highlighting the event’s continued impact and success.
Support from community partners and volunteers has been instrumental in the program’s growth and success. Local business leaders, educators, and civic organizations generously give their time and expertise to create authentic, real-world experiences for students. Their involvement elevates the level of competition and helps students build connections and gain insight into future career pathways.
Each day, the field narrows until three finalists are selected to advance to the Global Amazing Shake event in Atlanta.
In 2026, Skylar Carter, Charlie Confer, and Myia Willoughby rose from a field of 170 students to represent Clark County on the global stage.
Over the past two years, Clark County Public Schools has worked to align its Amazing Shake competition with the Portrait of a Clark County Learner, ensuring a strong connection between the event and district-wide goals.
“In every round, students engage in real-world challenges that build confidence and prepare them for future opportunities,” said Amber Murphy, instructional specialist for CCPS and Amazing Shake coordinator. “They are learning to communicate ideas clearly, collaborate effectively, and solve problems creatively. We believe this experience gives our students a meaningful edge for the future.”
