GRC and Clark County are once again taking center stage as we will host the FOX 56 Home Team Basketball Showcase, a college-style basketball extravaganza that brings statewide attention to local high school athletics.
The showcase returns to GRC for the second year on February 7th with four basketball matchups scheduled throughout the day.
Clark County Athletic Director Terry Yeast said the Fox 56 partnership was an instant fit. “It was clear from the start that this was something special for our students, our schools, and our community," he said.
The Showcase features professional-level production from FOX 56, including multiple camera angles, instant replay, play-by-play commentary, and sideline coverage.
Fans across Kentucky can tune in live on FOX 56, FOX56news.com, and the FOX 56 News app following the conclusion of Wisconsin vs. Indiana at approximately 2 p.m.
New this year, the showcase will introduce a shot clock, further enhancing the game-day atmosphere and bringing a true college-style experience to high school basketball.
“We’re excited to introduce the shot clock during this year’s showcase,” the athletic director said. “It adds another layer of excitement for both the players and the fans and continues to raise the bar for high school basketball in our district.”
The day-long event features a full slate of competitive matchups:
· 2:00 p.m. (Girls): Frederick Douglass vs. Boyd County
· 3:30 p.m. (Girls): GRC vs. Rockcastle County
· 5:00 p.m.: GRC WinCity vs. Danville Christian Academy
· 6:30 p.m. (Boys): Wayne County vs. North Laurel
Beyond the action on the court, the showcase highlights Clark County’s growing reputation as a destination for high-profile high school sporting events.
“It is truly a blessing to work in a district that made a commitment to build facilities that allow us to host top-notch events,” Mr. Yeast said. “The amount of compliments I receive from sports fans is overwhelming. Folks love coming to Clark County, and we love welcoming them to GRC.”
FOX 56 representatives echoed that excitement, noting the showcase aligns with the station’s mission to spotlight high school sports and student-athletes across the state.
“GRC is the perfect venue for an event like this because of its state-of-the-art facilities and their elite success on the court,” said Hinkle, Executive Producer of the FOX 56 Home Team Showcase. “We are excited to elevate our commitment to the communities we serve by offering an event like this that promotes student athletes.”
